Skills Check #3
In this image, there are lines and texture in the wood panels on the shed as well as diagonal lines forming an 'x' at the bottom of the doors. The red and white of the shed show color. There is value within the white on the shed and the shadows being created by the trees nearby, as well as contrast between the bright white and the dark red. There are several shapes in this photo, including triangles and the shape of the top of the shed. The aperture is low yet the photo is intriguing.
In this image, I can see many different principles of art, including lots of color all throughout like the blue of the sky and mountains and the green of the grass and trees. There is perspective because there are objects that are very closeup like the log at the bottom of the photo, trees in the middle, and then in the very distance you see the mountains. There is also movement in the clouds as well as contrast between the light sky and the dark trees. It doesn't focus on one main subject, but it does have depth to it.
In this image, there is lots of color in the pinkish-purple of the flowers and the green of the leaves surrounding them. There are lines in the flower petals as well as the leaves. Emphasis is put on the flowers by them being the main attraction and focus of this photo. There is value because the flowers start out lighter more to the left of the photo and then become a darker color, which eventually fades into the dark leaves to the very right of the image.
In this image, there is emphasis on the flower because it is the only thing in focus; everything in the background is blurred so your attention is drawn to the flower petals. There is color in the red petals and yellow inside of the flower as well as the green leaves that are out of focus. There are lines in the flower petals, as well as value because of the way the petals turn under near the tips, which creates a shadow. Even though it doesn't follow the Rule of Thirds, it still focuses on only one object.
For this skills check, I chose images that are slightly more advanced that the ones I used in my previous skill checks. I really paid attention to the details and this time included more information about the Rule of Thirds and aperture. I believe as I continue to create skill checks, my skill does improve, yet there is still room for improvement within experimenting more with aperture, depth of field, and the Rule of Thirds.
Skills Check #2
In this image, you can see balance within the position of the bees, they are not directly in the center of the photo which also follows the Rule of Thirds. There is texture in the closed buds of the flower, and movement in the wings of the bees. Color is found in the green leaves, the whitish pink flowers, and the black and orange bees.
In this image, there is shape and form because of the distinct flower petals; you can clearly see each petal. There is texture on the leaves, as well as an obvious line on the leaf at the bottom. I can also see color in the green leaves, and the purplish pink flowers with the red centers. There is space in the top and to the right of the flower in the background.
In this image, there is contrast between the brown color of the rocks and the blue and white of the sky. There are several lines within the tall rock on the left, and the horizon has a distinct line. I see movement in the clouds and space in the distance of the photo. There is also color in the green of the grass and trees, the brown of the rocks, and the blue of the sky.
In this image, the frame of the sunglasses are in focus and the light shining on the lens is blurry, giving the frame some emphasis. There is a line on the side of the sunglasses, which draws the eye to it. The black in the lens of the sunglasses contrasts with the blue in the lens. This image also shows perspective because of the angle that the photo was taken, instead of the lens being in focus the side of the glasses are.
Skills Check #1
In this image, I see shape in the people's arms; the shape of a square. In my opinion, this square symbolizes strength and love in their relationship. I see contrast between the lighting on the arms transitioning into darkness. The balance in this photograph is the main subject is highlighted in light and the background is dark. I see color in the skin tones and clothing.
In this image, I see texture in the hands holding the raspberries and the texture of the leaves. I also see perspective behind what the hands might have handled over their life time. The color in this photo is the bright red of the raspberries and the green of the leaves. I see lines in the hands and the green leaves.
In this image, I see shape in the rectangle of the cards, and also the hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades. I see pattern in the several cards, even though they aren't perfectly even. I see space between each of the playing cards, and there is color within each of the cards. I see contrast from the dark black of the table and the bright white of the cards.
In this image, I see lines in the petals of this flower and also the grasses behind it. I also see color in the pinkish white of the flower and the green background.
